Located in Athens, Greece, ABUELO was conceived as a compact urban coffee spot that transforms a small storefront into a bold and recognizable presence within the city. The project explores the relationship between geometry, color, and visibility, creating an identity that feels both playful and graphic while remaining clean and architecturally restrained.

The façade becomes the central design gesture of the project. A large circular opening framed within a deep green envelope establishes a strong visual connection between the street and the interior, turning the storefront into an urban display that invites interaction and transparency. Curved forms and rounded edges soften the compact scale of the space, while integrated lighting enhances the graphic clarity of the composition during both day and night.

The material palette combines saturated green surfaces with natural wood textures and lighter neutral tones, creating a balance between vibrancy and warmth. Geometric lattice details introduce rhythm and layering to the lower part of the façade, reinforcing the project’s visual identity while subtly filtering views and light. The use of simple, honest materials allows color and form to become the defining architectural elements of the space.

Despite its limited scale, the project was designed to feel open and socially connected to the surrounding sidewalk. Exterior seating extends the activity of the café into the public realm, encouraging a more informal and collective urban experience.
