Located in Piraeus, Greece, WE ARE COAST reimagines the contemporary café as a soft urban retreat shaped by light, texture, and openness. Conceived as a calm pause within the dense rhythm of the city, the project unfolds as a fluid and welcoming environment where the relationship between the street and the interior remains intentionally open and connected.

The spatial composition is defined by a restrained architectural language and a carefully balanced material palette. Curved geometries, soft pink-toned surfaces, and pale natural wood introduce warmth and tactility, while concrete breeze blocks create a subtle sense of permeability and rhythm throughout the space. Existing structural elements are integrated into the design through sculptural plaster finishes, reinforcing the monolithic and cohesive character of the interior.

Natural light plays a central role in shaping the atmosphere of the project. Large façade openings allow daylight to diffuse deeply into the space, enhancing the muted textures and creating soft transitions between light and shadow throughout the day. Suspended linear lighting elements introduce a subtle sense of movement overhead, contrasting the calm materiality with a more dynamic visual rhythm.

Furniture and built-in seating were designed to support flexibility and collective use while maintaining an intimate and relaxed atmosphere. Continuous benches, lightweight tables, and integrated planting elements create softer zones within the open plan without interrupting the spatial continuity. The palette remains intentionally understated, allowing texture, proportions, and light to define the identity of the space. Overall, WE ARE COAST proposes a contemporary hospitality interior that balances softness with urban clarity — a space conceived as both a social landscape and a quiet everyday escape within the city of Piraeus.
